We work hard to keep scouting as affordable as possible. When compared to the cost of most other activities available to our children, we believe the cost of Scouting is a great value for what you and your scout will get out of it. There are a few costs families should know about:

Yearly Registration Fee – $325

This registration fee covers your Scout's membership for one year from the date you register. $95 of this goes to the national Scouting America organization, $30 goes to the Greater Alabama Scouting Council, and $200 goes directly to the troop to cover troop events and activities, your Scout's handbook, badges and other miscellaneous scouting essentials.

Uniform – $100–$150: 

Scouts purchase their own uniform, with the cost varying based on rank and the options you choose. Your first year in Cub Scouts will have the highest uniform cost as you start from scratch, but many uniform items stay the same as your scout advances so subsequent years are cheaper.

Ways to Offset Costs

We never want cost to be the reason a child misses out on Scouting! Families have several ways to help cover these expenses:

• Fundraising: Popcorn sales and other pack fundraisers can help offset registration, dues, and uniform costs. As your scout participates in fundraisers, they will have a share of the proceeds they help earn deposited into their 'Scout Account', which can be used to pay for uniforms, camping and events, and even their registration fees!

• Scholarships: Local Council offer scholarship assistance for families who need help with costs. Please reach out to a Pack leader confidentially to learn more.
